Three-star hotel – what does it mean?

04.11.2024 - 05.11.2024

When looking through travel options, you encounter hotel ratings denoted by stars. But what do these stars really mean? You've probably wondered about this more than once. We will help you navigate the meanders of hotel slang.

Confirmation of standard

The star system is in place worldwide. It is a standardized system that allows hotel guests to know what they can expect from a given facility. In Poland, the standard of hotels is overseen by the Marshals of the Voivodeships. A special expert commission visits the hotel and assesses its standard, while representatives from the Sanitary Inspectorate and the Fire Brigade check the safety of the premises.

What do the stars mean?

Learn about the classification according to which hotel stars are awarded. Below we present what standards specific hotel facilities should meet.

  • One star

One-star hotels are intended for less demanding guests with a modest budget. The basic room amenities include a bed, wardrobe, bedside table, and washbasin. Typically, the bathroom is shared and located in the corridor, although there are also rooms with private bathrooms. We cannot expect access to a television, air conditioning, or a minibar in the rooms.

  • Two stars

Two stars denote a slightly higher standard than one-star hotels. These types of facilities provide a private bathroom in the room, bath cosmetics, a bedside lamp, and a television. The reception is available 24 hours a day. Towel exchanges occur every three days or at the guest's request.

  • Three stars

Here, we enter a significantly higher level. Three-star hotels must provide guests with access to the hotel restaurant, spa treatments, and fast WiFi. This standard guarantees excellently trained staff who speak at least two foreign languages, a 24-hour reception, and an extensive breakfast menu. Other additional amenities include a safe, larger room size, a sewing kit, and shoe cleaning services.

  • Four stars

Four-star hotels offer amenities such as air conditioning, daily room cleaning, and 24-hour access to drinks. The room includes slippers, a hygiene kit, a hairdryer, a comb, and paper towels. The hotel spa offers luxurious beauty treatments, and there is a pool and gym on the premises.

  • Five stars

Five-star properties do not differ significantly from four-star ones. The only difference is richer cosmetic services, more luxurious room furnishings, and an attractive hotel location—often in the city center or near the sea.

How to make a decision?

If you care about optimal standards and interesting amenities, the best option is to choose a three-star hotel. Such a facility offers air-conditioned rooms, fast internet, and access to the restaurant and spa. This is the best option for both business travelers and those going on family vacations. An attractive price is matched with high quality. A three-star hotel offers rooms of various standards, including exceptionally luxurious ones. Not every three-star hotel provides only the mandatory minimum set for this type of establishment. Therefore, it's best to familiarize yourself with the offer of a specific facility before making a reservation.

Why choose Marina Club Hotel***?

Marina Club Hotel*** is a three-star facility and provides all the amenities typical of such establishments and much, much more. The hotel is located in an attractive location, in the very center of the Old Town, near all significant tourist attractions. It is a ten-story building, the tallest structure in downtown, providing a stunning view of Gdańsk's monuments and the yacht marina. Like any three-star hotel, Marina Club Hotel*** offers access to a restaurant. It is a popular restaurant throughout the Tricity, Śliwka w kompot. On the ground floor, you can taste exquisite European cuisine, and on the tenth floor, where there is a wonderful view of the Old Town, you can try unique signature cocktails.

Marina Club Hotel*** not only offers standard rooms but also apartments with a separate living room and bedroom measuring as much as 42 square meters. This definitely exceeds the standard of a typical three-star hotel. A conference room and monitored parking in the city center (where parking is hard to come by) are additional advantages that distinguish our facility.

Not all three-star hotels are the same

A three-star hotel is not equal to another three-star hotel. When choosing accommodation, pay attention not only to the number of stars but also contact the hotel directly to find out what amenities you can expect during your stay. Check the internet for reviews from guests who have already had the opportunity to stay in that place. You may be pleasantly surprised by how high a standard a three-star hotel offers.
